Each artist performed one of their songs, after which four artists were selected to perform their second song in round two. After this, the top two songs were chosen and the winner was decided from these two songs.

Although Andreas Kümmert won the national final, moments after being announced as the winner he declined participating at Eurovision and it was decided that Ann Sophie would be the German representative in 2015.
